Q & A

Genital herpes is a sexually transmitted disease. It causes herpetic sores that are painful blisters. This condition is common in people under 50. At least 8 in 10 people are unaware of their condition when affected by this virus as the symptoms are not visible. More than 60% people are at risk of this virus due to unprotected sex. There is no cure to herpes but treatments can reduce and prevent the symptoms. Genital herpes usually transfers with skin contact of the infected person. Oral/vaginal sex or just close genital contact can also cause the risk. The herpes virus can also enter through a cut or break in the skin.

Valaciclovir tablets are antiviral medicines. They are used to treat genital herpes. Once inside the body, this medicine is broken down into an active ingredient known as acyclovir. Valaciclovir prevents the viruses from multiplying and spreading. This reduces the severity of the infection. This medicine also helps prevent the infection from occurring. Consult your doctor before you take Valaciclovir.
